Biography

Kongtoranee Payakaroon (real name: Chartchai Tiptamai; born July 12, 1960, Chachoengsao, Thailand) is one of the Golden Era’s most decorated technicians and the elder brother of Samart. A Sityodtong product under Kru Yodtong Senanan, he captured five Lumpinee Stadium titles across five divisions—102, 108, 112, 115, 118 lbs—a rare feat that underscored his balance, timing, and fight IQ. He later crossed into professional boxing, defeating former world champion Payao Poontarat, before challenging Gilberto Román (WBC) in 1986 and Khaosai Galaxy (WBA) in 1988. After retiring, he coached at Sityodtong and abroad.
