Biography

Manasak Sor Ploenchit, born Mana Sornjam on December 7, 1965, in Rayong, Thailand, was a renowned Muay Thai fighter who left a significant mark on the sport during the 1980s and 1990s. He began his Muay Thai journey in the mid-1970s in his hometown before moving to the Bangkok circuit, where he initially fought under the name Manasak Asawamongkol. After gaining regional success, he joined the Sor Ploenchit camp in Bangkok, where he trained under Sathien Sathiensut.

Manasak's career was marked by his technical prowess and strategic fighting style, known as Muay Femur, which emphasizes skill and intelligence in the ring. He was particularly known for his powerful knee strikes, both in close quarters and at a distance. His dedication and skill earned him the nickname "The King of Muay Thai," and he became a two-weight champion at the prestigious Rajadamnern Stadium.

Throughout his career, Manasak faced and defeated some of the top fighters of his era, including Sangtiennoi Sor Rungroj and Samart Payakaroon. His achievements in the ring were recognized in 1985 when he received the "Best Boxer of the Year" award. Beyond his fighting career, Manasak also contributed to the sport by establishing his own boxing gym in Japan, where he shared his knowledge and experience with the next generation of fighters.
