Biography

Born in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, Apidej Sit-Hirun began his Muay Thai journey at the age of 8. He quickly rose through the ranks, earning his first fight in Ratchaburi just three months after starting his training. His career spanned from 1957 to 1972, during which he became renowned for his devastating kicks, earning him the nickname "Kicker from Bang Nok Khwaek."

Throughout the 1960s, Apidej held an unprecedented seven Muay Thai and boxing titles simultaneously, a feat that has yet to be matched. His prowess in the ring was recognized by King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who named him the "Muay Thai Fighter of the Century." Apidej's most famous bout saw him break both of his opponent's arms, a testament to his incredible kicking power.

After retiring in his mid-30s, Apidej dedicated over 30 years to training the next generation of fighters at Fairtex Muaythai Fitness. His influence extended globally, as he trained champions from various countries, including the USA, Japan, and Australia. His legacy is immortalized with a bronze statue at the Huamark Indoor Stadium and recognition in the Thai National Museum for his contributions to the sport.
