Biography

Boonlai Sor.Thanikul, born Chaichan Ramoon on November 11, 1970, in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, emerged as one of the most skilled fighters during the golden era of Muay Thai. Known for his technical finesse, Boonlai was a master of the "rope-a-dope" style, excelling particularly in counter-striking. His career was marked by victories over some of the most formidable opponents of his time, including Langsuan Panyuthaphum, Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyuth, and Jongsanan Fairtex.

Boonlai's career highlights include winning the Lumpinee Stadium Super Flyweight title in 1990 and the Super Bantamweight title in 1992, each with one successful title defense. Despite his success, his career faced challenges, including a fight-fixing scandal that tarnished his reputation with major promoters, although he still managed to fight nearly 400 times.

After retiring from professional fighting, Boonlai transitioned to training, sharing his expertise at various camps in Bangkok and eventually opening his own gym, Sor.Korpilap, in 2010. He also served as a Muay Thai coach for the 11th Infantry Military Base in Chachoengsao Province. His contributions to the sport continue as he is now part of the Muay Thai Scholar Staff, where he imparts his knowledge to the next generation of fighters.
