His prowess in the ring earned him the nickname "Khun Khao Chalamdam," translating to "the black shark knee strike," a testament to his fearsome reputation.

Cherry's career peaked when he won the prestigious Lumpinee 130 lbs title on July 25, 1989, at an event organized by the famous promoter Songchai Ratanasuban.
