Biography

Jongsanan Fairtex, born Anucha Chaiyasen on July 24, 1974, in Chaiyaphum, Thailand, began his Muay Thai journey at the age of 11. Growing up in a poor farming family, he was introduced to the sport by his grandfather. His early passion for fighting led him to become one of the most formidable fighters of the "Golden Era" of Muay Thai in the 1990s.

Jongsanan's career is marked by his impressive achievements in the ring, including winning multiple Lumpinee Stadium titles in two different weight divisions. Known for his aggressive style and ability to absorb punishment, he earned the nickname "The Woodenman" for his toughness. His legendary battles, particularly his fifth fight with Sakmongkol, known as "The Elbow Fight," are etched in Muay Thai history.

In 1998, Jongsanan moved to the United States, where he continued his fighting career and won the IKKC and ISKA world titles. He remained undefeated in his 15 fights in the U.S. and became a significant influence on the Muay Thai scene, inspiring a new generation of fighters.

Today, Jongsanan owns a Muay Thai gym in San Francisco, where he shares his extensive knowledge and experience with aspiring fighters. His contributions to the sport were recognized with his induction into the ISKA Hall of Fame, solidifying his legacy as a Muay Thai icon.
