Biography

Karuhat Sor Supawan (real name Suvit Yoochumpon, born May 22, 1968, in Khon Kaen, Thailand) is revered as one of the greatest Muay Femur (technical fighters) of the Golden Age of Muay Thai.

He began fighting relatively late for a Thai, having his first unschooled bout around age 16 before moving to Bangkok at 17 to train at Sor. Supawan Gym. Karuhat's fighting name translates to "castle" or "fortress," but he was best known by the fan-given nickname "Yodsian" (The Top Master or Superstar) and "Yodmuayechriya" (The Genius of Boxing) due to his high ring IQ, superb technique, and intelligent counter-striking.

A master of deception and evasion, Karuhat often fought on the back foot, utilizing a blend of high-speed footwork, precise low kicks, and devastating elbow strikes (for which he was a specialist). Though often smaller than his opponents, he was a three-time Lumpinee Stadium Champion, winning the title once at Flyweight (112 lbs) and twice at Junior Featherweight (122 lbs). His list of defeated opponents includes many greats of his era, such as Kaensak Sor Ploenjit, Hippy Singmanee, and Weerapol Sahaprom. His estimated fight record is approximately 190 total fights with 165 victories.
